Gentle and bright soundscapes
The ollihess gong driver stands out: The head and handle are made of natural caoutchouc and are completely black. The material used is particularly resistant and ensures a unique variety of sounds.
Gentle and bright tones for your meditative gong playing
Take your gong playing to the next level: with our gong mallets you can discover your sound instrument in a completely new way. The friction that acts on the gong with a gong mallet from the Lava Edition by Olli Hess causes the gong to vibrate and the sound takes on completely new dimensions. The deep strokes with the gong mallet are in direct contrast to the soft, bright tones that are possible with the friction mallet from the Lava Edition by Olli Hess. The sound produced by a gong with the friction mallet is often reminiscent of harmonious whale songs or the calming "Om" mantra known from monks.
Innovative handle and hand-ground head made of natural caoutchouc
In order to produce the soft and soothing tones that are expected from a gong driver, we rely entirely on natural caoutchouc for the Lava Edition gong drivers. The material makes it possible to elicit pleasant and sensual sounds from your instrument. The use of treated natural caoutchouc in the handle and head of the mallet makes it particularly resistant and prevents scratches or other damage to the gong. In addition, the purely vegan natural caoutchouc also ensures an incredibly wide variety of sounds.

Ingenious design, perfectly balanced in your hand
You'll stand out with our chime driver: The handle of the ollihess Lava Edition chime driver is wrapped in a subtle black that immediately catches the eye or literally blends in with the surroundings, depending on the environment. With a handle thickness of 6 mm and a handle length of 16.5 cm, the friction mallet sits comfortably in your hand and is easy to grip in any position - without any signs of fatigue. Of course, the low weight of only approx. 20 grams also contributes to this. The combination of materials and the high-quality workmanship of the Lava Edition gong driver provide you with a chime with very bright and appealing tones.

Care and tips
The Lava Edition gong pens are high-quality gong pens made from a natural caoutchouc. The balls are handcrafted and are therefore all slightly different.
If you want to enjoy your new gong driver for a long time, please bear this in mind:
- When you have finished playing the gong, it is best to put the gong driver back in a sealed, perhaps opaque bag (so it is not so exposed to UV light).
- Our gong drivers are protected against ageing. However, this protection may cause white spots to appear on the surface from time to time. This is not a problem at all... A short "shower" with hot water will help. Then allow to air dry.
If you pay attention to these things, the Lava Edition gong driver will accompany you for a long time.
A few words about wear and tear
Gong grinders are everyday objects. This means that the more intensively you use them, the faster they show signs of wear.
Imagine a car tire or a windshield wiper: If you drive a lot, it wears out faster.
The situation is similar with gong drivers. As these gong drivers are made from natural caoutchouc , they unfortunately cannot last forever. Nevertheless, these quality gong drivers - with the above tips - will give you pleasure for a long time!
PLEASE NOTE: Small irregularities are completely normal!
The balls of our graters are cast by hand and then finished with various tools until the desired surface is achieved. This can result in small irregularities on the ball, which are due to this manual process. This is therefore completely normal and has no influence whatsoever on the sound you can produce with this reamer.

The sound of a gong is absolutely unique and has been an integral part of rituals and traditions in various cultures for thousands of years for good reason. A versatile sound spectrum can be elicited from the gong - at least if you choose a high-quality gong driver.
The demands on a gong driver are high, because on the one hand it should produce the most intense and clear sound possible, but at the same time leave no traces on the gong. The ollihess gong driver from the Lava Edition fulfills exactly these requirements and gives you a completely new sound experience.
