Gong meditation "Light Bath" with visualization

Gong meditation "Light Bath" with visualization

In this "Light Bath" gong meditation, we combine gentle sounds with a visualization technique. The "light bath" helps to direct your attention away from your thoughts and towards your own body and can lead to deep relaxation and inner peace. Here is a compact guide on how you can perform this gong meditation and visualization at home, harmoniously combining the two practices.

Preparation for meditation with gong

Create space: Create a pleasant atmosphere in the room with dimmed lights, a mat and cushions. Use candles to create an even more relaxing mood and make sure you can sit comfortably in front of your gong for some time.

Select mallets and reamers: Have different mallets and reeds ready for different sound nuances:

      Procedure of the gong meditation

      Arrive:

      • Close your eyes and take a few deep breaths to arrive in the here and now.
      • A very beneficial technique for arriving is the parasympathetic lip brake: first take a deep breath in and then breathe out again through your lips, which are only slightly open and lying loosely together. Repeat this three times and then take a short break before starting a new round.

      Visualization:

      • Imagine a gentle rain of warm, golden light flowing over your entire body. Start at your head and let the golden light flow very slowly over your upper body down to your feet.
      • Imagine how the shimmering light releases all tension and recharges you with new energy.
      • Give yourself enough time for the light bath (about 5 minutes) until you feel more and more inner peace and calm.

        Accompaniment with the gong

        • Accompany your breathing: Use a soft, medium-sized mallet and strike your gong gently two or three times. This sound should act as a gentle start to the meditation and prepare you to engage with the light and sound.
        • During the visualization: Use a larger mallet, such as the Profi Gong Mallet L355 or L460, to enter an even deeper state of relaxation.
        • Intensive phase: After about 5 minutes - after you have traveled through your body once - you can create even more intense, long-lasting tones with a grater, such as the Intense Plus Edition. Use the continuous frequency to let the light radiate over your entire body from the inside out.
        • Conclusion: End the gong meditation with gentle sounds. To do this, use the medium-sized mallet and strike your instrument two or three more times. This helps to anchor the state of inner peace. After the last sound has faded, take a few more breaths in silence and reflect.

After the "Light Bath" sound meditation

If possible, take a moment to write down your experiences and feelings. Think about how you can integrate the state of inner peace you have just felt into your everyday life.
